Osteopathy can be very helpful throughout your child’s life.

Paediatric osteopaths are specialised osteopaths who can diagnose and treat infants and children.

Babies are incredibly resourceful and elastic beings and most of them recover smoothly and easily from their birth. However some babies may have just been through a complicated birth, long labour, instrumental delivery or a C-section and absorbed some stresses and tensions and may need a helping hand. Osteopathy can help get rid of these tensions and prevent patterns from tightening and unsettling the baby.

Some of the manifestatios we see in babies are:

Wind, colic and sleep difficulties
Plagiocephaly (flat head) and torticollis
Irritable babies
Feeding difficulties
teething problems
Earache, glue ear
Sticky eye
Sinus problems, recurrent chest infections
Club foot

A consultation consists of:

a case history of current symptoms or concerns, the pregnancy and the birth process.
a clinical examination (reflexes, neuro, joints and cranium)
And treatment which is a blend of cranial osteopathy and myofascial release.

Stretches, certain positions and exercises are often given to the parents for the treatment to continue at home.

As your child grows, they go through many development milestones, we can follow your child’s progress and make sure they transition smoothly by providing relevant treatment and exercises to each phase. We are here to support the whole family and offer professional advice and help the parents with their child.

Osteopathy can help with aches and pains due to poor posture when your child starts school or further education with longer hours sat at the desk. Getting the right advice early will help prevent future postural complaints.
